Digital transformation is at a whizzing speed, and, more than ever, we can access a million opportunities thanks to today’s technology.
what's in it for the youth?
Be content creators, not just consumers
“Young people are…earliest adopters of trending technologies. This means they are poised to take advantage of innovation in this area and drive entrepreneurship impact,” UNDESA 2020 Youth Social Report. Anyone can be an active content creator and problem solver. The likes of Woody Harrison and young Naomi Castelo featured in Sky News is an examples of youngsters reaping money off the internet. Natural curiosity and fearlessness mean that this vibrant community can leverage the potential of technology, from fields like mobile development to the endless possibilities created by artificial intelligence.
Collaborate and Communicate
The Youth Report compares the industrial age to the present ‘machine age’. As the industrial age marked the transition into new manufacturing processes, it argues, the second machine age reflects the fusion of physical and digital production and consumption. One of the hugely impacted aspects of this is human interactions. Social media platforms have become meeting places, enabling us to build communities, share ideas, and collaborate globally. Digital platforms like LinkedIn allow Millennials, Gen Zs, and Gen Alphas to connect with mentors, industry experts, and like-minded peers, fostering a network of support and opportunities.
Explore Career and Opportunities
The likes of Austin Evans, Marques Brownlee, and other young people have gone for drawing careers out of the technology industry. Technology has lowered the ‘experience is a must’ barrier for young people to some degree, empowering them to turn their ideas into reality. With a laptop and an internet connection, they can start a business, reach customers worldwide, and disrupt traditional industries. The startup culture embraced by young people fuels economic growth, fosters innovation, and drives job creation.
With that said, there are still some challenges. However, young people’s development is at least in their hands to some extent. The current promising development of technology and how young people embrace change are encouraging. As the youth, we must tap into this industry and make a career (with all the fun involved) out of it.
Are we being introduced to a new era of career opportunities?
